  • 10minhotel.com
  • 8 June 2026
📈 In 2025, Africa's hospitality sector grew with over 675 new hotels planned, driven by an 8% rise in international visitors. However, a "follow the leader" culture under international brands reveals flaws. Empowering GMs as local entrepreneurs in cities like Cape Town and Nairobi, allows them to source local ingredients and tailor guest experiences while maintaining brand quality. Valor's "Whole World of Local" approach emphasizes adapting international standards to local contexts, enhancing authenticity and guest satisfaction.

Guest Safety and Recognition, Not Satisfaction, Are Key to Securing Repeat Business in Hospitality Industry

  • 10minhotel.com
  • 8 June 2026
🏨 Repeat guest properties focus on post-visit satisfaction scores and surveys, but safety, not satisfaction, drives guest return. Before opinions form, guests assess recognition and familiarity, impacting their comfort. Personalization, though efficient, lacks the intimacy of recognition. Industry measures often miss this, as surveys capture post-interaction thoughts, not pre-opinion feelings. High survey scores don't guarantee returns; recognition does.

🛌 Sleepcations gained popularity since 2024, focusing on rest and sleep quality rather than typical travel activities. • Automatic
  • 8 June 2026
💵 Jun 8, 2026, corporate travel relationships face challenges as hotels prioritize short-term revenue over long-term agreements. When frequent business travelers are offered direct rates outside corporate channels, compliance declines, and companies lose spending visibility. This undermines negotiated rate programs.
