  • Tech-powered hospitality provider to launch 52-unit aparthotel in ‘Alte Post’, Dortmund
  • Bob W has signed a long-term lease with Aroundtown for 3,300 sq m in the former post office
  • New Dortmund building will be the fifth in operator’s continued expansion across Germany

Helsinki, 6th February 2025 – Bob W, the tech-powered hospitality provider, has exchanged contracts with Aroundtown, one of Europe’s leading listed real estate groups, to launch a 52-unit serviced apartment offer in a former post office building in Dortmund, Germany.

The operator has signed a long term lease for 3,300 sq m at the Alte Post building, a former post office adjacent to Dortmund’s main railway station. The refurbished, mixed-use asset also hosts over 10,000 sq m of high-quality office space, as well as retail and commercial facilities.

The aparthotel will be Bob W’s fifth in Germany, a key target market for the operator, featuring a selection of high-quality, furnished 30 sq m studio and 40 sq m one-bedroom apartments with kitchens and a co-working lounge. It will take the total number of European cities in which Bob W operates to 18 across 10 countries, with further expansion planned.

The deal comes amid advanced discussions with landlords and property owners in other key German cities, including Stuttgart, Cologne, and Hamburg.

Conveniently located for guests to explore Dortmund, the new Bob W property provides excellent public transport links to the rest of the city via the nearby Kampstraße underground station. The property is also within easy reach of Dortmund’s key attractions, including the Westfalenpark, the shopping district along Westenhellweg and the iconic Dortmund U-Tower.

Niko Karstikko, Co-founder of Bob W, said: “Our expansion into Dortmund is the latest step in Bob W’s mission to revolutionize the hospitality industry across Europe. The Alte Post building is a fantastic addition to our portfolio and a great example of how we’re breathing new life into older properties.

“Bob W continues to lead Europe’s rapidly growing aparthotel market and Dortmund’s vibrant culture, strong business scene, and excellent transport connections make it a perfect fit for everything we do. We can’t wait to bring our blend of flexibility, sustainability and tech-driven service to this dynamic city.”

Fit-out work at the Alte Post building has already begun, with Bob W Dortmund set to welcome its first guests in 2026.

Bob W is one of Europe’s best-ranked international hospitality providers with a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 77, and an average guest rating of 4.7 out of five stars.

Backed by apps that provide a seamless digital front desk and robust customer service, guests can easily select super-early check-ins or late check-outs based on live availability and have access to the mainly chat-based perfect host ‘Bob W’ for recommendations and local tips. The operator’s ‘marketplace’ also connects guests to local breakfast spots, gyms, facilities, and a host of digital products to ensure a truly local experience.
