Travel dominates mobile traffic but…

  • Kate Harden-England1
  • 16 August 2024
📱 Mobile traffic in the hotel and flight booking industry stands at 73%, but only 24% of consumers book completely on mobile. Research shows 59% use mobile for trip research, while 69% switch to desktop for high-value purchases. Desktop order values are nearly double those on mobile in 2024. Confidence in making mobile purchases over $250 is low at 17%, and for booking flights or hotels at 25%. Bugs (45% encounter rate) and transaction times over 3-5 minutes (55% abandonment rate) contribute to low mobile booking conversions. Quantum Metric emphasizes the need for improved mobile experiences to bridge the gap between mobile usage and commerce conversions.

Launched last year, the POS links front and back of house, incorporating inventory, metrics, and a consumer-facing app launched in 2024. A machine learning model predicts daily bagel needs to minimize waste, streamline baking, and enhance customer experience.
