Emblems Collection makes its debut in Italy

🏖️ Accor, with Invel Real Estate and Prodea Investments, will open Hotel Bellevue Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Italian Alps in 2026. This Emblems collection hotel in Cortina d'Ampezzo will transform a historic building into a luxury spot with 80 rooms, including 27 suites. Designed by Tihany Design, it will feature local materials and energy-efficient construction. The 500 m² wellness center will include a dual indoor/outdoor swimming pool and a main restaurant with a Bellevue terrace.

UK: Direct hotel bookings gain ground

London bank acquired for luxury boutique hotel conversion

🏦 Royal Group, led by Singaporean billionaire Asok Kumar Hiranandani, purchased 63-65 Piccadilly in London for £65 million. The company plans to invest an additional £45 million to convert the former NatWest Bank into a 50-suite luxury boutique hotel. The £110 million project is set to be completed by end of 2026 and could charge £1,000 per night. Architecture firm Ritchie Design Partners is tasked with design services for the transformation.

🏨 In 2025, Cloudbeds' "State of Hostels" report, analyzing 2,300 hostels in 62 countries and nearly 11 million bookings from 2022-2024, indicates a shift towards performance optimization. Dorm occupancy has grown, while private rooms declined. Global ADR for dorms fell by 1.7%, and private rooms by 4%. OTA bookings, capturing 74% of the market, increased by 1% from 2023. Longer stays are more prevalent in dorms, with 11% being 14+ nights, versus 4% in private rooms. Weekend bookings are high, with 35% starting on Friday or Saturday; 20% check out on Sunday. OTAs also have the highest cancellation rate at 19%. Six trends identified for 2025 include value-driven travel and AI adoption in hostels.
