We often hear about Enterprise Architecture in tech circles these days, don’t we? It’s the holy grail—neatly aligning your technology systems with your overarching business architecture to ensure operational capability. It looks brilliant on a PowerPoint slide, all tidy boxes and directional arrows. But there’s a massive, glaring omission in almost every blueprint I see: People Architecture.

And frankly, that missing piece is where the biggest opportunities in our industry are constantly getting lost.

Technology isn’t just about streamlining a back-office process or shaving thirty seconds off a transaction. It’s fundamentally about job structure and operational design. When you bring Enterprise Architecture and Business Architecture together, their ultimate destination should be to inform and evolve your People Architecture. The real objective in today’s landscape is giving a business the agility and flexibility to dynamically reshape how its workforce actually functions.

When you look closely, this is the precise collision point in hospitality right now.

We spend endless hours wringing our hands over manpower. Will AI take our jobs? Do we have enough people? Why can’t we retain talent? Yet, the rubber almost never hits the road on leveraging technology for comprehensive operational and job redesign. We keep trying to slap modern, high-powered digital tools onto legacy, 1990s-era job descriptions and then wonder why the machine stutters.

We need to start using technology to construct a new People Architecture—one that unburdens staff from administrative drudgery, reshapes roles around actual human value, and builds an agile workforce model genuinely suited for the future of travel.

Until we align the tech with the human blueprint, we’re just moving the digital furniture around.

Life is so tech! Someone get me the org’ chart!
