Lisbon, 5 November 2026 – AI- and tech-powered hospitality operator Bob W is making a major push into Portugal, unveiling a four-property, 190-unit expansion across Lisbon and Porto as it accelerates growth into new European markets.

Its first Portuguese location is scheduled to open in Q1 2027, with three further properties planned by the end of 2028. Portugal recorded 82 million overnight stays in 2025, while tourism receipts reached a record €29.1 billion, up 5% year-on-year, according to Turismo de Portugal.

Príncipe Real partnership with Ratisbona Iberia

Bob W has partnered with European developer Ratisbona Iberia on Bob W Lisboa Príncipe Real, a new 25-unit aparthotel at Rua da Palmeira 20. Ratisbona Iberia will redevelop the circa 1,000 sqm building, retaining its original façade and staircase while rebuilding the remainder into 25 design-led studios, scheduled to open in Q4 2028.

The Portuguese pipeline also includes a 40-unit Lisbon property opening in Q1 2028 and two properties in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto: 58 units scheduled for Q2 2027 and 70 units for Q4 2028.

“Portugal is a market we’ve wanted to enter for some time, and we’re going in with real conviction. Four properties across Lisbon and Porto is a statement of intent. Securing projects across different locations, with a mix of studios and larger apartments suited to both leisure and business travellers, is helping us lay the foundations for a long-term presence in a market where we see significant opportunity.” Badis Boudjakdji, Director for Real Estate and Expansion Spain, Bob W

“Bob W brings a compelling operating model to the Portuguese market, combining strong hospitality expertise with a clear understanding of what makes urban properties successful. This redevelopment is an opportunity to retain the architectural character of an established Lisbon building while creating a hospitality asset designed for the next generation of travellers.” Pedro Silvestre, Head of Expansion, Ratisbona Iberia

Bob W’s entry into Portugal extends its European footprint as the operator continues to build a portfolio of more than 100 assets and 8,000 apartment units and hotel rooms across Europe and the UK.
