The Old Lodge in Malton sold to new owners

🏨 Chris and Jane Berridge acquired The Old Lodge in Malton, a 17th Century Tudor mansion with 29 en-suite rooms, set in 3.6 acres, from Ajay Abhaya Kumar and Anupama Banerji. The sale, facilitated by Christie and Co, was completed swiftly, although the price remains undisclosed. This is the Berridges' first venture into hospitality, and they expressed enthusiasm for maintaining the landmark’s legacy with the support of the dedicated staff.

Elite Hotels appoints Graham Copeman as managing director

📈 Elite Hotels' management is changing: Graham Copeman will become managing director in January 2026, succeeding Graeme Bateman, who transitions to executive chairman. Copeman, former general manager at Exclusive Collection's Pennyhill Park, has also worked at The Zetter Group, St James’s Hotel and Club, and The Goring. Bateman takes over as chairman of Elite Hotels and The Rotherwick Foundation from Andrew Dixon, who retires after a decade but stays as a trustee. Elite Hotels operates three properties in England.

Met Hotel Leeds opens new restaurant following major refurb

The hotel now includes nine function rooms with modern facilities. The renovation emphasized sustainability with locally sourced materials. Dining services are offered at the Fountain Restaurant, and event spaces accommodate up to 150 guests. Located near the Peak District, it’s about 30 minutes from Derby and 2.5 hours from London by train.

Nick Nairn to step away from Kailyard restaurant at Dunblane Hydro

🍳 Chef Nick Nairn will leave the Kailyard at Dunblane Hydro in March 2026, ending a 16-year partnership. Apex Hotels and Nairn mutually agreed on the decision. The hotel, renamed Apex Dunblane Hydro in November, is undergoing a significant refurbishment, including a new restaurant concept. Brian Scanlin will continue as executive head chef. A farewell event is set for 26 March. Apex calls this one of the largest investment periods in the hotel's 147-year history.

IHG appoints Nicholas Cadbury as non-executive director

📈 InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) appoints Nicholas Cadbury as a non-executive director starting 1 March 2026. He will join the audit and responsible business committees. Cadbury is the current chief financial and sustainability officer at International Consolidated Airlines Group and was group finance director at Whitbread (2012-2022). He also served as a non-executive director at Land Securities Group (2017-2023), chairing the audit committee. IHG states this enhances the board’s financial and sector expertise.

Moddershall Oaks marks 25 years with £4m investment plans

In the past five years, £3 million has been invested in facilities. New Woodland Pods will be introduced, part of long-term plans for further retreat spaces and facility enhancements.

Premier Inn opens new hotel in Hastings town centre

🏨 Premier Inn opened an 84-bedroom hotel in Hastings on December 12, 2025, located on Cornwallis Street. Officially opened by MP Helena Dollimore, the development replaced a former car park, spanning 3,000 square meters and constructed in 15 months. This project created 25 jobs. Whitbread contributed £9,000 to local charities, and the hotel team engaged in community activities. Premier Inn plans further expansions in Bognor Regis, Littlehampton, and Rye.

Clayton Hotel Liffey Valley marks 20 years with bar and restaurant revamp
