Durban, 12 August 2026 – On Sunday, 9 August 2026, the Level 4 Ballroom at Radisson Blu Hotel, Durban Umhlanga became a space for women to pause, connect, share their stories and celebrate one another.

The hotel’s “Boldly Beautiful” Women’s Day High Tea was created around a simple idea: women deserve spaces where they feel seen, heard and supported. The afternoon brought this vision to life through honest conversations, fashion, entertainment and moments of genuine connection.

At the heart of the programme was an inspiring keynote address by Dr Anna Mokgokong, Chancellor of North-West University, Consul General of Iceland, entrepreneur and medical doctor. The conversation continued with a panel discussion moderated by Sorisha Naidoo and featuring Minenhle Dlamini, Jayne Linley-Thomas, Crystal Tryon-Smith and Dr Nompumelelo Nkosi-Ntombela. Speaking openly about their journeys, the panellists reflected on identity, resilience, confidence, self-doubt, success and the experiences that shaped the women they are today. Their stories reminded guests that strength does not always look the same and that living boldly often begins with choosing to be authentic.

A fashion showcase by Amour Couture brought another layer of confidence and creativity to the afternoon, celebrating women through personal style and self-expression.

“Boldly Beautiful was never meant to be just another Women’s Day event. We wanted women to feel seen, inspired and connected,” said Fara Hamid, Marketing Manager at Radisson Blu Hotel, Durban Umhlanga.

“Raising R20,000 for Sahara Shelter made the day even more special because its impact will continue long after the event itself. I am incredibly grateful to every guest, speaker, sponsor and partner who believed in what we were trying to create.”

The funds raised will support Sahara Shelter, which provides refuge and assistance to abused women and children. This gave the celebration a purpose that reached beyond the ballroom and extended to women and families facing some of life’s most difficult circumstances.

The generosity of the event’s partners could be felt throughout the day. Guests received premium goodie bags filled with contributions from IQ Skincare, Nivea, Dove, Futurelife, La Roche-Posay, lelive, Lil-Lets, Nuxe, Toybah, Clere, Starbucks, Catrice, Lee-Chem Laboratories, H&M and Tetley.

Prize partners Bellagio Jewellers, BRIC’S, Jockey, Veaudry and Durban Flying Dress added to the excitement of the afternoon. Highlights included a BRIC’S Firenze Duffle Bag valued at R14,000 and a Durban Flying Dress photoshoot experience valued at R10,000.

Guests were also treated to speciality coffee sponsored by Thirst Mobile Bar, together with memorable activations presented by Magnum and Château Gâteaux.

By the close of the afternoon, guests had shared stories, formed new connections and helped direct meaningful support towards women and children who need it. More than a celebration, “Boldly Beautiful” became a reminder of what can happen when women come together with purpose.

Radisson Blu Hotel, Durban Umhlanga extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who helped bring the event to life and contributed to its lasting impact.
