Chinese outbound tourism soars over May Day 2025
🏨 Dida reported a 103% year-on-year increase in international hotel bookings by Chinese travelers for May Day holiday 2025 (1–5 May). Average daily rates (ADR) went up by 5%, with stays shortening by 6.4% to 2 days. Top destinations included Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, and Hong Kong SAR. Bookings were primarily through tailor-made tour operators (43%), retail agencies (34%), and online travel agencies (16%). Domestic bookings in China rose by 33%, while inbound travel surged 306%.
