August figures span the US and Australia, shortly after Hospitable became the first PMS to automate lodging tax compliance across all 50 US states
SAN FRANCISCO, 8 SEPTEMBER 2026 – Hospitable today announced it collected and remitted more than $1.7 million (USD) in lodging taxes on behalf of short-term rental (STR) hosts and property managers across the US and Australia in August.
The milestone highlights the scale of the tax compliance burden and time-consuming administrative work Hospitable is removing for STR businesses.
The figure spans direct bookings, Vrbo reservations, and guest upsells, and follows Hospitable becoming the first property management software (PMS) to automate lodging tax compliance across all 50 US states in June.
The milestone also signals a wider evolution in STR technology, with Hospitable moving beyond helping property managers handle day-to-day tasks and taking responsibility for critical business functions on their behalf. As property managers expand across markets and build more diverse distribution strategies, tax, payments, and compliance are becoming an increasingly important part of the infrastructure required to scale.
Lodging tax obligations rarely stop at a single rate or authority. Requirements can vary by state, county, and municipality, each with its own registration process, filing schedule, and reporting rules. For a property manager operating across several markets, keeping pace with those obligations manually becomes a significant administrative load, and one that grows with every new property and channel.
Hospitable operates as a merchant of record for lodging tax purposes, handling registration, calculation, filing, and remittance on behalf of operators across local, county, state, and national jurisdictions. The August figure reflects the volume now moving through that infrastructure as property managers diversify their distribution beyond the major online travel agencies.
Pierre-Camille Hamana, CEO and Founder of Hospitable, said: “Every new market a property manager enters is another tax authority they have to answer to and another filing deadline they can’t miss. We took the view that compliance is infrastructure, not a service you bolt on later. Over a million dollars moving through that infrastructure in a month tells us that property managers want to spend their time running properties, not filing paperwork in jurisdictions they’ve never set foot in.”
Tax compliance automation is available to Hospitable hosts for direct bookings, Vrbo reservations, and guest upsells. For more information, visit www.hospitable.com.
