PriceLabs Upgrades Built-In Hotel Rate Shopper to Boost Strategic Insights for Independent Hoteliers

CHICAGO, IL, 21 July 2026 – Revenue Management Software provider, PriceLabs, has launched its updated Hotel Rate Shopper, introducing a powerful new Competitor Room Type Matching tool and transforming PriceLabs into one of the most comprehensive competitive intelligence platforms available to independent hotels.

Independent hotels, particularly owner-operated properties with 10 to 100 rooms, rarely have a dedicated revenue team, yet need to keep pace with large-scale corporate revenue management teams at major chain competitors. For many owner-operators, that still means manually checking competitor pricing, comparing room types, and trying to work out whether they’re looking at a genuine like-for-like comparison.

PriceLabs’ new Hotel Rate S
hopper allows independent hoteliers to maintain constant competitive intelligence, enabling smarter pricing strategies and reporting, which is included for all users from day one.

New features include:

  • Smarter default comp sets — New users get ready-made competitive sets tailored to their property’s type, star rating, size, and average price band, so they’re never building from scratch.
  • Competitor room type matching — Allows hotels to match each of their room types with the equivalent room at competing properties, making price comparisons significantly more accurate. Where no equivalent room exists, the platform clearly identifies when it has reverted to a competitor’s standard property rate, giving hoteliers complete transparency over every comparison.
  • Revamped competitor selection filters — Advanced filters (star category, review count, review rating, unit count, radius, property type), redesigned search flow, and upgraded map view help hoteliers find the right competitors every time.
  • Detailed rate comparison — Hoteliers can now filter competitor rates by length of stay, refundability, and breakfast inclusion, benchmarking the specific rate types guests actually choose between rather than a single headline rate.

This competitive intelligence then informs PriceLabs’ pricing recommendations, meaning better benchmarking flows directly into more accurate pricing decisions.

The platform also draws on both hotel and short-term rental data, recognizing that today’s independent hotels increasingly compete with serviced apartments and vacation rentals alongside traditional hotels.

Anurag Verma, Co-Founder of PriceLabs, said:

“Independent hotels shouldn’t need an enterprise budget to access sophisticated competitor intelligence. Over the past several months, we’ve focused on removing the manual work from competitor benchmarking while making PriceLabs even more accurate, more intuitive, and more effective for independent operators who manage pricing themselves.

“By allowing hotels to compare equivalent rooms rather than simply comparing properties, we’re giving them a much clearer understanding of their competitive position. Because that benchmarking feeds into our pricing recommendations, better market intelligence ultimately helps hotels make better pricing decisions.”

Hotel Rate Shopper is included for PriceLabs hotel customers at no additional cost. More information is available at https://hotels.pricelabs.co/hotel-rate-shopper/
