Starhotels acquires Hermitage Hotel Forte dei Marmi

🏨 Italy's luxury hotel group Starhotels has acquired Hermitage Hotel & Resort in Tuscany, set to join Starhotels Collezione post-2025 summer. The Forte dei Marmi property spans one acre, boasting 59 rooms, a vegetable garden, and future plans for a new spa. This acquisition marks Starhotels' expansion into resorts, 45 years after its Tuscan origins. Recent openings include Hotel d’Inghilterra (Rome, September 2024) and upcoming Hotel Gabrielli Venezia and Teatro Luxury Apartments Firenze.

Versace Mansion sister hotel Donatella to open this May

🏡 The Donatella Boutique Hotel & Restaurant, linked to Versace Mansion, is set to open in May 2025 in Miami’s Art Deco district at 1350 Collins Avenue. Owned jointly by Nakash Group and Vida & Estilo Hospitality, who acquired the 1922 Wallace Tutt-designed building in 2022, it offers six rooms, a 170-seat Italian restaurant by chef Alessandro Morrone, and a 15-person private dining area. Nakash Group also owns The Setai Miami Beach and Villa Casa Casuarina.

IHG Hotels & Resorts signs first voco hotels in Türkiye

🏨 IHG Hotels & Resorts partners with Pınarlar Kurumsal Hizmetler Turizm A.Ş. to open the first voco hotel in Türkiye, voco Antalya Konyaaltı, in summer 2025. Located in the heart of Antalya, known as the 'Turkish Riviera', voco Antalya Konyaaltı will offer 120 rooms. The city annually attracts millions of tourists to its Mediterranean coastline. The hotel will feature a restaurant, bar, meeting rooms, spa, gym, and outdoor pool. IHG currently has 33 open hotels in Türkiye across five brands and 12 pipeline properties across six brands in the country, with 19 voco hotels in Europe.

🍫 City Roots Hospitality and Guy Vaknin are set to open Reverie, a vegan dessert and cocktail bar, on May 14 in Williamsburg, New York City. Beyond Sushi, Willow, Coletta, Anixi, Sentir, and Le Basque are also owned by City Roots. The menu by executive pastry chef Makenna Hale will feature signature desserts like “The Rainbow” with fruit, florals, rosewater meringue, and ube streusel, alongside savory appetizers. The venue is designed by Studio RB, offering an artful and immersive dessert experience with private dining and space rentals.

New culinary offering at The Cottage in the Wood, Malvern

🍴 Malvern's 3 AA Rosette restaurant introduces a new tasting menu on May 1st, featuring seven courses for £95 per head with an option to add two more from daily specials. Head Chef Mark Potts, who joined last year, crafted the menu highlighting global cuisine. A more casual Brasserie opens April 16th offering à la carte from £13.50 and a £75 five-course tasting menu. The Brasserie will serve dinner daily and the tasting menu at lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Saturday. Owner Nick Davies celebrates ten years at The Cottage in the Wood with this culinary advancement.

Orient Express opens its first hotel La Minerva in Rome

🏡 Orient Express opened its first hotel, La Minerva, in central Rome, located at Piazza della Minerva 69 near the Pantheon, in April 2025. The luxury hotel, developed in partnership with Arsenale Group, occupies a 17th-century palazzo with 93 rooms, including 36 suites. La Minerva features travel-inspired interiors, three food and drink venues, and five event venues. Orient Express is also expanding with a Venice hotel opening in 2025, and launching the Orient Express Silenseas ship, the Orient Express Corinthian, in 2026.

Sean Brock’s new Nashville restaurant, Sho Pizza Bar, is a tribute to Tokyo-style pizza

🍕 Chef Sean Brock is opening Sho Pizza Bar in East Nashville’s Riverside Village on April 14, offering lunch and dinner. A collaboration with Nashville natives Mary Carlisle and Ben Gambill, Sho reflects their shared passion for Tokyo-style pizza. The restaurant features a 30-seat dining room, an outdoor patio, full bar, and a 12-seat chef’s counter overlooking a wood-fired pizza oven. The pizza dough undergoes a three-day fermentation for a lighter, more digestible crust. Chefs Trey Tench and John Woodward lead the kitchen, serving classics and signature pies like the Sho-Stopper, sourcing mozzarella from Italy and local ingredients for toppings. Other offerings include salads, appetizers, matcha soft serve, tiramisu, beer, Italian wine, sake, and cocktails. Brock and the Gambills plan to expand Sho Pizza Bar throughout the Southeast.

🏛 Seaton House's grand opening in St Andrews, Scotland showcased 2 destination restaurants and luxury accommodations just yards from the Old Course. Valor Hospitality Partners and Links Collection operate the hotel with 42 bedrooms, including 9 suites. Guests enjoyed food and drink from Ondine Oyster & Grill and The Board Room, complemented by local entertainment, including Madras College's music department and a pipe band. The event featured croquet, axe throwing, and archery as nods to local history.

A culinary and design duo just opened Merci, a neighborhood bistro in Charleston, S.C.

🍴 Michael and Courtney Zentner launched The Drifter in Charleston, S.C., in April 2020. They’ve now expanded with Merci, a European-inspired bistro, which opened on March 22, alongside its sister market, Petit Merci. Set in a historic 1820s building, Merci features a 20-seat dining room, a six-seat bar, and plans for outdoor dining. Open Wednesday through Saturday for dinner, the menu includes seasonal dishes like focaccia stracciatella and beef Wellington. Petit Merci offers soups, breads, meals, and pastries from 11 a.m. daily.
