Designed with desert adaptation in mind, they incorporate stone, stucco, and heat-resistant materials. Neri&Hu Transforms Tbilisi's Historic Brutalist Telegraph Hotel into Modern 239-Room Space with Nine Dining Venues

🏨 Architects Lado Alexi-Meskhishvili and Teimuraz Mikashavidze designed the Telegraph Hotel in the 1970s as a post office and telegraph center in Tbilisi. Awarded the National State Award in 1983, it was transformed into a hotel by Neri&Hu and Silk Road Group, featuring 239 guestrooms and nine dining venues. A pivotal courtyard integrates Soviet history with modern design, offering communal balconies and lush greenery. The 2,790 sq. ft. presidential suite includes a terrace and plunge pool.

Villa Dubrovnik Reopens After Four-Year Renovation, Blending Croatian Heritage with Brazilian Design Influence

South Devon's Quayside Hotel Enters Administration, Will Remain Closed After Abandoned 2025 Reopening Plans

🚩 A south Devon hotel, the Quayside, fell into administration after closing for refurbishment in 2022. Located on Kings Street, overlooking Brixham Harbour, it planned to reopen in 2025. However, on June 8, 2026, administrators Jonathan David Trembath and Samuel Adam Bailey from Richard J Smith and Co were appointed. Despite a positive 2024 Facebook update, the hotel will stay permanently closed. Hotel Owner reached out to the administrators for comments.

African Hotel Industry Faces Talent Shortage Despite Record 123,846 Rooms in Development Across 675 Properties

🏨 From May 13-15, 2026, over 500 industry stakeholders from seven countries convened at the Ivoiro-Korean Center in Abidjan for the first International Forum on Tourism and Hospitality Training in Africa (FIFTHA). The continent's hotel pipeline includes 675 hotels with 123,846 rooms, a 18.6% increase. Egypt leads with 46,000 rooms. Only one-third of planned openings were realized in 2025. Hilton projects 18,000 jobs by opening 100 hotels. Training gaps remain a critical issue amid rapid industry growth.
