Fairmont opens Golden Prague in Old Town

🏦 Fairmont Hotels & Resorts opens Fairmont Golden Prague in Czech Republic's Old Town near Pařížská Boulevard. Architect Karel Filsak designed the original 1970s brutalist building. Renovation preserved ash wood posts, glass chandeliers, gilded lighting, and Czech design elements. The hotel offers 320 rooms, suites, serviced residences, and a 15,000-square-foot wellness area with a unique L-shaped pool. It features six dining venues, including Zlata Praha rooftop restaurant and Golden Eye with modern Asian cuisine. An art collection with restored Czech works decorates the hotel. There's a Fairmont Gold section with private check-in, a 6,500-square-foot ballroom, and rooftop boardrooms. CEO Omer Acar highlights the expansion in Europe, with notable properties like Le Montreux Palace, The Savoy, and La Hacienda Costa Del Sol.

Orient Express opens its first hotel La Minerva in Rome

🏡 Orient Express opened its first hotel, La Minerva, in central Rome, located at Piazza della Minerva 69 near the Pantheon, in April 2025. The luxury hotel, developed in partnership with Arsenale Group, occupies a 17th-century palazzo with 93 rooms, including 36 suites. La Minerva features travel-inspired interiors, three food and drink venues, and five event venues. Orient Express is also expanding with a Venice hotel opening in 2025, and launching the Orient Express Silenseas ship, the Orient Express Corinthian, in 2026.

Tampa’s Saddlebrook Resort sets out on $92M renovation project

🏌️ Saddlebrook Resort in Tampa Bay, undergoing a $92-million transformation, includes redesigning a 480-acre property, its lobby, 451 guestrooms, event spaces, dining options, and golf courses. Rees Jones will overhaul the golf facilities, which will feature a new 27-hole layout. The resort offers a digital golf studio, 43 tennis courts, and over 215,000 square feet for events. The renovation, led by EoA Group and backed by Mast Capital and Amzak Capital, aims to blend tradition with innovation.

Peachtree expands in Texas with new TownePlace Suites property

🏡 Peachtree Group, in partnership with TEKMAK Development Company, opened the 87-suite TownePlace Suites in Forney, Texas, 22 miles east of Dallas. The pet-friendly hotel, catering to short and long stays, offers full kitchens, complimentary breakfast, a 24-hour fitness center, and an outdoor pool. In 2023, Peachtree managed multiple Texas hotels, with a portfolio including several brands. The hospitality division now oversees 108 hotels, 28 brands, 13,440 rooms across 26 states, with 35 properties under third-party management.

Sean Brock’s new Nashville restaurant, Sho Pizza Bar, is a tribute to Tokyo-style pizza

🍕 Chef Sean Brock is opening Sho Pizza Bar in East Nashville’s Riverside Village on April 14, offering lunch and dinner. A collaboration with Nashville natives Mary Carlisle and Ben Gambill, Sho reflects their shared passion for Tokyo-style pizza. The restaurant features a 30-seat dining room, an outdoor patio, full bar, and a 12-seat chef’s counter overlooking a wood-fired pizza oven. The pizza dough undergoes a three-day fermentation for a lighter, more digestible crust. Chefs Trey Tench and John Woodward lead the kitchen, serving classics and signature pies like the Sho-Stopper, sourcing mozzarella from Italy and local ingredients for toppings. Other offerings include salads, appetizers, matcha soft serve, tiramisu, beer, Italian wine, sake, and cocktails. Brock and the Gambills plan to expand Sho Pizza Bar throughout the Southeast.

Grand Hyatt Miami Beach secures $392M construction loan

🏨 Terra and Turnberry secured a $392-million construction loan from TYKO Capital for the Grand Hyatt Miami Beach, set to open in late 2027. This 800-room hotel will be an 800-room establishment located next to the Miami Beach Convention Center, featuring 12 floors of guestrooms, 52 suites, four levels of meeting and ballroom space, and a rooftop pool deck. The city's first major convention hotel connected to the center received a $75-million grant from the Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency in 2024 after being approved by voters in 2018. Hyatt will manage the property, which is part of a public-private partnership and includes public improvements such as widened sidewalks and bike-share stations.

Guests enjoyed food and drink from Ondine Oyster & Grill and The Board Room, complemented by local entertainment, including Madras College's music department and a pipe band. The event featured croquet, axe throwing, and archery as nods to local history.

A culinary and design duo just opened Merci, a neighborhood bistro in Charleston, S.C.

They’ve now expanded with Merci, a European-inspired bistro, which opened on March 22, alongside its sister market, Petit Merci. Open Wednesday through Saturday for dinner, the menu includes seasonal dishes like focaccia stracciatella and beef Wellington. Idaho’s Coeur d’Alene Resort to expand with new tower

🏖 Hagadone Hospitality has started construction on the Sherman Tower, expanding The Coeur d’Alene Resort in Idaho by 139 rooms, totaling 477 rooms when complete. The project is expected to generate around 200 jobs, featuring lake-facing guestrooms, an expanded food-and-beverage program, and new common areas. The expansion includes a lobby lounge, rotating local art café, a full-service restaurant, and a rooftop bar with views of Lake Coeur d’Alene and the city skyline. The resort already has a spa, marina, golf course, and meeting space. Coeur d’Alene has seen increased tourism and corporate meetings, along with hospitality development.
