🏠 Hoteliers and architects Gerold and Katia Schneider restored the 1609 Haus W lodge in Zug, Austria, using untreated local spruce and traditional methods. The four-bedroom boutique hotel features bespoke furniture and interiors by local craftspeople. The design juxtaposes new spruce with centuries-old timber, highlighting the building's history. The project includes a spa and sauna by Shinchiro Ogata and a wooden screen designed as a second layer in front of a glass structure. The studio and shop will host artists in residence part of the year.

IHG Hotels & Resorts Reports 4.4% Global RevPAR Growth and 7,000 Open Hotels in Q1 2026

📈 IHG Hotels & Resorts reported a 4.4% global RevPAR growth in Q1 2026, with average daily rate up 2.0% and occupancy up 1.5%. The company's net system size increased by 5.0% year-on-year, totaling 1,036,000 rooms. They opened 82 hotels with 14,900 rooms and signed 163 hotels with 21,400 rooms. IHG also completed $240M of its $950M share buyback program. EMEAA RevPAR grew 5.6%, while the Middle East declined by 2%.

🏨 IHG Hotels & Resorts reported Q1 2026 results, showing a 4.4% increase in global RevPAR, with the Americas at 3.6%, EMEAA at 5.6%, and Greater China at 5.7%. Global rooms revenue rose, notably in groups (7%) and business (6%). The gross system size grew 6.6% YOY, with 14,900 rooms opened. IHG also signed 21,400 rooms and completed $240 million of a $950 million share buyback, reducing the share count by 1.1%.
