🏨 The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has appointed Minor Hotels to manage the seven-property Sharjah Collection in the UAE. The signing ceremony, attended by key figures including Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, took place in Sharjah. Minor Hotels, with over 640 properties in 59 countries, will enhance and preserve the portfolio, contributing to Sharjah's tourism growth. The properties span coastal, desert, mountain, and heritage landscapes.

🏨 July 5, 2026, aboard the Seven Seas Splendor, the Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) awarded outstanding achievements in hospitality. Wharf Hotels won Best Brand Performance, while Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas earned Hotel of the Year. Lanson Place Parliament Gardens, Melbourne, received Best New Hotel. Cheval Collection, Kempinski Hotels, and Outrigger Resorts & Hotels were also recognized. The event celebrated milestones, with The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts marking 20 years with GHA. 📅 Jakob Helgen appointed as general manager of JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo, which opened in October 2025. Helgen brings over 22 years of global hospitality experience at Marriott International. From 2019 to 2024, he served as area vice president for Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar, expanding Marriott's presence from 50 to 80 hotels, doubling in Vietnam. His career began in 2002 at Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon. He also worked in Europe before Marriott.

Smith emphasizes profitability through guest service, talent retention, and optimal segmentation, rather than cutting costs. Despite muted transaction activity, growth has been achieved by improving underperforming assets. The focus remains on luxury and lifestyle segments, where experience and consistency are key. Paul Eckert was hired as COO to enhance organizational success, and the next year is expected to see more management changes to boost profitability.

🏨 Trilogy Hotels will operate The Sands Torquay from 1 July 2026, marking its debut on Victoria's Surf Coast. Located 90 minutes from Melbourne and 20 minutes from Geelong, the resort features 112 suites and an 18-hole golf course designed by Stuart Appleby. Guests enjoy amenities like a 25-meter pool, gym, tennis courts, and three dining venues. The Sands is a key leisure and event destination near Bells Beach, fitting for the area’s lifestyle culture. Trilogy Hotels oversees 24 properties.

Based in Cheshire, the firm unveiled a new brand identity and expanded services for independent hotels. Founded by Steven Hesketh, it targets venues with up to 100 rooms. The appointments come amid a rise in UK hotel transactions, amounting to £1.6 billion in Q1 2026. Magee and Miles will drive operational resets and revenue strategies for clients.
