🚩 A south Devon hotel, the Quayside, fell into administration after closing for refurbishment in 2022. Located on Kings Street, overlooking Brixham Harbour, it planned to reopen in 2025. However, on June 8, 2026, administrators Jonathan David Trembath and Samuel Adam Bailey from Richard J Smith and Co were appointed. Despite a positive 2024 Facebook update, the hotel will stay permanently closed. Hotel Owner reached out to the administrators for comments.

🏨 Le Méridien Indianapolis, located in downtown Indianapolis, completed a comprehensive renovation of its 12-story, 100-room, 25-suite hotel. The updates include redesigned guestrooms, enhanced public spaces, and the new Spoke & Steele restaurant. The hotel offers European-inspired design and integrates Le Méridien's signature Hub concept—a social lobby gathering space. The renovation also highlights the Master Barista initiative, catering to coffee enthusiasts. This project aims to honor the hotel's historic character while energizing its guest experience.

🏨 Sonesta International Hotels Corporation has opened the 58-room Red Lion Inn & Suites Bucyrus North in Crawford County, Ohio, about an hour north of Columbus. Announced in Newton, Massachusetts, this expansion brings Sonesta's Ohio portfolio to over 25 properties. The midscale hotel provides amenities like free WiFi, cable TV, mini-fridges, and microwaves, continuing the brand's strategic growth and emphasis on offering comfortable and dependable lodging in secondary markets.

🏨 From May 13-15, 2026, over 500 industry stakeholders from seven countries convened at the Ivoiro-Korean Center in Abidjan for the first International Forum on Tourism and Hospitality Training in Africa (FIFTHA). The continent's hotel pipeline includes 675 hotels with 123,846 rooms, a 18.6% increase. Egypt leads with 46,000 rooms. Only one-third of planned openings were realized in 2025. Hilton projects 18,000 jobs by opening 100 hotels. Training gaps remain a critical issue amid rapid industry growth.

🍴 Dante Mayfair opened at Claridge’s hotel in Mayfair after a year-long residency. Operated by Linden Pride and Nathalie Hudson, the restaurant offers classic American dishes and cocktails, including £10 martinis during the 3-5 pm Martini hour. The venue features a private dining room for 14 guests, designed by Hudson and Bryan O’Sullivan Studio. Daily live music enhances the ambiance, aiming to bring New York’s neighborhood vibe to Mayfair.

🏨 On June 16, Aloft by Marriott will open its largest hotel in Manchester city center, featuring 358 rooms. Developed by Dean Street Developments, it includes panoramic city views, a 24-hour fitness center, and a cocktail bar with live music. The hotel supports digital keys, mobile check-in, and is part of the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty scheme. This marks Aloft's first presence in Manchester, following their 2021 launch in Birmingham with 195 rooms, highlighting their UK expansion.

🏢 Maslow’s Kensington, a new 30,000 sq ft members’ club, opens today in London’s Kensington Building. Founded by Guy Ivesha, it integrates fitness and wellbeing with work, offering 15 to 60-minute rituals like Pilates and sound healing. The gym features Technogym and Paragon x Gym80 equipment. June’s launch includes workshops and events. Oria café, led by Chef Talia Trup, provides a nutrition-focused menu. Design by Mehrai Design and Studio Mercy emphasizes natural light and human-centered principles.
