Indian Airlines Face Fivefold Increase in Losses to $576 Million in 2024-25 Amid Rising Costs
✈️ Indian airlines faced a significant financial setback in the 2024-25 fiscal year, reporting a loss of nearly INR 53 billion ($576 million), a near fivefold increase from the INR 9.2 billion ($100.8 million) loss in 2023-24. Despite a 7.7% growth in domestic air passenger traffic, factors such as seat occupancy, fuel costs, and aircraft capacity contributed to the losses. The Ministry cited challenges like ATF price volatility, exchange rate fluctuations, and competitive pricing pressures.
